Is the Pfizer vaccine for the youngest children a lower dose than for older ages?

Note: I will be in a two week training from 2/7-2/18 and expect to be away from Q&A during that time.  If you have questions, send them along and if I have time, I’ll answer them!  Otherwise, see you on 2/22.

Question: Is the Pfizer vaccine for the youngest children a lower dose than for older ages?

Answer: Yes, at 3 micrograms per dose, the Pfizer vaccine for the youngest children (ages 6 months through 4 years) is a much lower dose than the dosages for children ages 5-11 (10 micrograms) and everyone ages 12+ (30 micrograms) (Table).  All eyes are now on FDA, which is reviewing the application Pfizer submitted just this Tuesday, initiating its request for emergency use authorization for the first two doses of its three dose series for the youngest children.
