Question: What proportion of 5-11 year olds have been vaccinated in the US?
Answer: We discussed this question about 6 weeks ago on December 1st, when we saw that 15.1% of 5-11 year-olds had received at least one dose and 1.6% of 5-11 year-olds had been fully vaccinated. About six weeks have passed and as of January 9th, CDC reports 26.1% of 5-11 year olds have received at least one dose and 17.0% are fully vaccinated (Figure 1). It’s good to see the increase in vaccination uptake, but unfortunate to see that the rate is still so low. Nearly three quarters of children ages 5-11 are still unvaccinated as omicron rips through the country.
