{"id":820,"date":"2020-11-15T09:10:10","date_gmt":"2020-11-15T14:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/covidqanda.org\/?p=820"},"modified":"2020-11-15T11:54:47","modified_gmt":"2020-11-15T16:54:47","slug":"can-my-spouse-and-i-isolate-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/covidqanda.org\/?p=820","title":{"rendered":"Can my spouse and I isolate together?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Question:<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;If both my husband and I (we\u2019re the only ones in the house) come down with COVID at the same time, could we care for one another until it\u2019s over and not have to separate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Answer:<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong>At first blush, I don&#8217;t see why not, but you know I&#8217;m not a doctor and this is the type of question best left to a doctor to\u00a0answer.\u00a0 Happily, I found relevant guidance from a respected MD, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centerforhealthsecurity.org\/our-people\/toner\/\">Dr. Eric Toner<\/a>, an internist and emergency physician, as well as Johns\u00a0Hopkins Senior Scholar and Senior Scientist.\u00a0 In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jhsph.edu\/covid-19\/questions-and-answers\/\">response to a very similar question<\/a> he writes,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;They can be <em>isolated<\/em> together as long as we\u2019re sure they\u2019re both positive. There\u2019s no problem in having multiple people<em> isolate<\/em> together. But, ideally, people should<em> quarantine<\/em> separately. It\u2019s also important to distinguish between isolation and quarantine: isolation is for people who are sick. Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who may have been exposed to the virus.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So there you have it.&nbsp; If you are both positive with the virus, you can both isolate together.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Question:&nbsp;If both my husband and I (we\u2019re the only ones in the house) come down with COVID at the same time, could we care for one another until it\u2019s over and not have to separate?
