{"id":1730,"date":"2021-12-13T09:20:59","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T14:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/covidqanda.org\/?p=1730"},"modified":"2021-12-13T09:20:59","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T14:20:59","slug":"do-vaccinated-close-contacts-need-to-quarantine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/covidqanda.org\/?p=1730","title":{"rendered":"Do vaccinated close-contacts need to quarantine?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Question:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We just found out that my husband&#8211; who has been caring for our 4-year-old who is recovering from COVID&#8211; has himself tested positive.\u00a0 He&#8217;s vaccinated (not yet boosted), so this is a breakthrough infection.\u00a0 He&#8217;s also asymptomatic.\u00a0 I understand that he needs to self-isolate for 10 days.\u00a0 What I&#8217;m not sure is what this means for my older girls (who are vaccinated and supposed to go to school tomorrow) and myself.\u00a0 Is there any guidance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Answer:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/your-health\/quarantine-isolation.html\">CDC does have guidance<\/a>\u00a0for this type of situation. Since you and your older girls are fully vaccinated, you do NOT need to quarantine UNLESS you have symptoms.\u00a0 Instead, you should get tested 5-7 days after your most recent exposure and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until your test result is negative\u00a0<strong>(Box<\/strong>).\u00a0 And in terms of testing, you should ideally get tested 2-3 days after your husband&#8217;s positive test, and then another 5-7 days after he ends isolation.\u00a0 Finally, I&#8217;m sending well wishes, hoping that your 4-year-old is feeling better, that your husband remains asymptomatic, and that you and your older girls keep healthy (mentally, physically, and emotionally).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Box.
