{"id":1211,"date":"2021-03-10T07:46:04","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T12:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/covidqanda.org\/?p=1211"},"modified":"2021-03-10T07:46:04","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T12:46:04","slug":"which-states-have-been-hardest-hit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/covidqanda.org\/?p=1211","title":{"rendered":"Which states have been hardest hit?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/span> Since COVID began, which states have been hit the hardest?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Answer:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;Hit the hardest&#8221; could mean a variety of things, but for the purpose of this answer, I&#8217;m going to define it as cases per every 100,000 people in each state&#8217;s\u00a0population.\u00a0 According to <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#cases_deathsper100k\">CDC&#8217;s COVID Tracker<\/a>, the five states who have suffered the highest cases\/population are (<strong>Figure 1<\/strong>):\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>North Dakota (13,190 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>South Dakota (12,841 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Rhode Island (12,175 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Utah (11,700 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Tennessee (11,479 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For comparison, the five states who have experienced the&nbsp;lowest cases\/population are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hawaii (1,912 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Vermont (2,596 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Maine (3,426 cases\/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Oregon (3,735 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><li>Washington (4,540 cases \/ 100,000)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Figure 1.
